54,572 fans watched an exciting game at the ballpark.  The Jefferson Park
Penguins topped the Tampico Stogies by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.

Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Jefferson
Park pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Mike
Cameron stroked a base-hit.  One out later, Russell Branyan stepped in and he
doubled making Jefferson Park the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful.  Jefferson Park rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.  

Troy Percival(1-2) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Ron Mahay(3-3) suffered the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 2 hits
in 1 and 2/3 innings.
